Looking for a fun spot to take the kids this winter? At the Lutz Children's Museum, kids learn through play and can visit some fun and furry animals, including Connecticut's official state groundhog.
Hazel Lutz founded the organization. She traveled the world and brought items back, kept them in the closet of classroom, and used them in her lessons. Over time, Lutz amassed so many different objects that the town gave her own space, which became the Lutz Children's Museum.
The museum offers daily animal meet-and-greets. Their creatures on hand include two Mexican axolotls, which are almost extinct in the wild. The museum has also got fluffy animals such as guinea pigs and ferrets - and of course, Chuckles.
Chuckles comes every Feb. 2 for Groundhog Day to share if it will be an early spring or a late winter.
Chuckles XI from 2022.
