2ds agoThe African American Museum of Nassau County is being renamed in honor of its long-standing patrons, Joysetta and Julius Pearse.
Joysetta Pearse is a local legend in Long Island history. She has also been a director at the museum for almost a decade.
Organizers of the renaming say that they are both icons.
Established in 1970, the African American Museum of Nassau County is the only one of its kind on Long Island. It is dedicated to showcasing local and national African American artists.
