A man has pleaded not guilty to accusations he inappropriately touched himself in his vehicle in front of a mother and her young daughter in Nesconset on Monday.
Police say Jacob Levy was driving a Honda Civic westbound on Route 347 when he pulled next to a vehicle driven by a woman, with her 6-year-old daughter as a passenger.
Police say Levy started touching himself inappropriately at the intersection of Gibbs Pond Road in front of them and was naked from the waist down.
The mother exchanged words with Levy, took down his license plate number and called police.
Levy allegedly fled, turning right on Southern Boulevard heading northbound.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Levy on Wednesday.
Levy, 27, of Nesconset, was charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He is due back in court in May.
News 12 has confirmed that Levy works for the East Meadow School District.
In a statement, the district wrote “The employee has immediately been reassigned to home pending further investigation. He began his employment as a social worker at W. T Clarke High School in Sept. of 2022. The district is unable to comment further on a pending legal/personnel matter.”
Levy’s attorney, Steven Politi, said that his client is “shocked” by the allegations and denies them. Politi said Levy has no priors and is an “important member” of the community.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident or who believes they may be a victim of Levy to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8451.
