If you ask teachers Jennifer Owens and Linda O'Brien about their recent lifesaving efforts, they say they don't consider themselves heroes.
"Immediately, we did not think about it. We sprang into action," says Owens.
The East Quogue Elementary school teachers helped to save the life of Kayla Barillas, who was choking on a piece of candy.
"I couldn't breathe," explains Barillas.
Owens administered the Heimlich maneuver on the fourth grader.
"The candy came flying out and hit a wall," says O'Brien.
Both teachers recently underwent training on the Heimlich maneuver and CPR at the school.
