Ready to hit the road to get one last trip in before summer ends?
News 12’s Consumer Reporter Janice Lieberman has the Real Deal about why a little bit of maintenance on your vehicle can save you on gas and repairs.
There is finally a break in the cost of gas, but that’s not enough to get the most out of your mileage money.
The way you maintain your car and the way you drive can save you money down the road.
Gassing up is your biggest expense, and getting the best price per gallon can make your car fuel efficient.
Experts say if you are a member of a warehouse club, get your gas there. It is as much as $.25 less a gallon.
If you have a gas station or brand you are loyal to, get their credit card or join in their fuel rewards programs.
When it comes to tires, technology is changing too.  Experts say the newer tires spin in a way that throw water on the road away from the car, which means you don’t want to rotate right and left. That will not only create greater safety problems, but it also reduces efficiency.
But most of all, it is how you drive.
Experts recommend investing in good brakes, even though they can cost $600 to $800, better brakes will last longer.
